Through its strong private-public partnership with the City of Rock Island, GROWTH and DARI acquired the properties that make up Star Block, a 140-year old historic landmark located on a strategic downtown corner, to rehabilitate into a mixed-use, comprehensive housing and commercial development in a live-work urban environment. Jackson Square

Completed in 2011, Jackson Square offers nine different floor plans featuring one, two, and three bedroom apartments. Formerly a warehouse built in 1914, this 60,000 sq. ft. structure has been completely revamped and given new life. McKesson Lofts is the first residential building in Rock Island with an environmentally friendly green roof. The 10,000 sq.ft. green roof is built among three skylights and includes a variety of plants including sedum, prairie coneflower, and allium, that reduces heat loss, improves cooling, and retains 4,636 gallons of rainwater from a one-inch rainfall. The Goldman Building was built in the 1880s and went through many changes including a hotel, department store, and furniture store. Renaissance Lofts

The Renaissance Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Three historic structures morphed into one building over the years. Sala Flats
